FestivalHub started from a straightforward observation: most festival information available online is either very thin — a date, a name, a single sentence — or very specific, aimed at people who already belong to the tradition being described. There is not much in between that serves a curious reader who knows nothing about a particular celebration and wants to understand it properly before attending, or simply to satisfy genuine curiosity.
This site attempts to fill that gap — not comprehensively (that would require many more pages than currently exist here), but carefully. Each festival entry is written with enough context to be genuinely useful: where the tradition comes from, what it means to the communities that observe it, how it is typically marked, and what a curious outsider should know before joining or simply learning.
FestivalHub covers a broad range of celebrations: cultural festivals rooted in local traditions and community practices; religious observances across different faiths, described with equal care and respect for each; seasonal celebrations tied to harvest cycles, equinoxes, and the rhythm of the natural year; national holidays marking independence, constitutional events, or significant historical moments; and family- and community-centred occasions that focus on relationships rather than history or doctrine.
The selection reflects both Indian and international festivals, because India's festival calendar is genuinely among the richest and most varied in the world, and because a site that only covered one country's celebrations would serve a much narrower range of curious readers. Both are represented as fully and honestly as possible.
Each festival entry includes a short introduction, a note on what the occasion represents, an overview of common traditions, a family-friendly activity idea, and a brief cultural note drawing attention to something worth knowing before attending or participating. These entries are general in scope — they describe the festival as it is broadly observed, not as any one family or community necessarily observes it.
Festivals are not neutral objects. They belong to communities, carry histories that are sometimes complicated, and mean different things to different participants. FestivalHub approaches every celebration with this in mind — which means not flattening traditions into simple descriptions, not presenting one interpretation of a festival as if it were the only one, and not treating customs that carry genuine significance as decorative material.
The site does not promote one religion, culture, or national tradition above any other. Festivals from different faith backgrounds are described in parallel, with the same level of care and the same willingness to acknowledge complexity. Where a festival carries different meanings for different communities — as many do — this is noted rather than resolved into a single neat explanation.
All content on FestivalHub is written originally for this site. We do not copy text from government websites, religious organisations, cultural encyclopaedias, or other festival information sites. Where information could reasonably vary between sources — particularly around religious interpretations or historical claims — we have used careful language ("according to tradition," "commonly associated with," "in many communities") to reflect that variation rather than present a contested interpretation as settled fact.
Festival dates that vary with lunar calendars are described as variable rather than given as fixed dates, because providing outdated fixed dates would be actively unhelpful. Exact dates for any given year are best confirmed through a current calendar or a community source.
The site does not claim to have cultural advisors, academic researchers, or religious authorities behind its content. It is written with care and with a genuine effort toward accuracy, but it is a general educational resource, not an authoritative scholarly or religious reference.

Cultural information is difficult to get right from a distance, and corrections from people with direct knowledge of a tradition are more valuable than any other form of feedback.
